Day 5/5 of Art Challenge

Some random sketches I did yesterday. I will probably animate this some day.

Day 4/5 of Art Challenge

One more day to go. 2 of them were drawn just last week. I thought these are good for birthday or Christmas cards. Can you see the air plant growing out from the baby's head on the first piece?

Day 3/5 of Art Challenge

More sketches done recently. Continue to work on Chinese New Year "Ang Pao".

Day 2/5 of Art Challenge

These are some recent sketches found in my sketchbook. Some initial ideas I have planned to draw for Chinese New Year "Ang Pao".

Day 1/5 of Art Challenge

I was nominated by a friend to take up an Art Challenge in Facebook. I was supposed to post 3  sketches or drawing a day for 5 days and nominate another friend to do the same. It is preferred to post the stuffs that were done recently. Here is the 1/5 of Art Challenge: Life drawings. These are some drawings done 2 weeks ago in class with my students. They usually look at how I draw and use it a reference for their own drawings.

Addicted to Patterns

New Exploration: Patterns

Here I started my new project but I am quite certain this is going to take a long time to complete. What I am going to do is to first study pattern designs based on this structure/grid system I read in Wucius Wong's book on Principles of Design Two - Dimensional Design.

Fishing for "FU".

A cross-hatching pencil sketch.

31.7.2014 to 08.08.2014

I enjoy drawing these but I am not able to keep up with it. So this is it for this series.

From 14.07.2014 to 25.07.2014

Working with ballpoint pen, copic markers and watercolors. One of my favorite medium is drawing with a ballpoint pen. It is cheap and most effective for the type of look I want to achieve.

From 08.07.2014 to 11.07.2014

My Fashion Diary

Another new addiction of mine. If I am a full time artist, I will devote an hour a day to draw one fashion illustration each day. I am going to try doing this everyday for a month and see if I can manage......

New Exploration

I never thought collage can be this fun. This is the first time I explore collage work. This has been going on for seven months and it is never enough. I am still thinking of what to do with all these collage pieces. How am I going to bring it to the next level? We will see and I will keep everyone posted.

PAPERDOLL

I am a paperdoll collector. It is just one of those thing that I enjoyed playing most when I was young. I can spend hours just creating my own. After so many years, I started creating my own paperdoll again. I suspect this is going to be one of those thing that I am going to get addicted with for many years.

Life Drawing

These are some life drawing demos I did in class for my students. It is usually Xu Hui or Steven posing for my class. They are my favorite.
My new addiction this year. A continuation from my flower series.  I think this is going to be my next big personal project.

These were exhibited recently in a group exhibition 'Chance Luck Accident'

My works explore the dialectical consequences between metaphorical representation and human behaviour. The illustrations are grounded in the natural structures of matter: the life cycle of a plant, the elements of mineral and the natural surroundings. These combinations produced an infinite series of possibilities during growth when the original structure adapts itself and gives birth to various diverse forms, all of the same family but dissimilar in copies. The outcome is dependent on what the owner sown and the surroundings that he intends to put in. The diversity signifies a sign of life that appears out of randomness, yet any similarities are unintentional.

Chance Luck Accident

...work in progress on my upcoming exhibition "Chance, Luck Accident", a collaborated exhibition with 4 other artists and design friends...

This is my passion...

One of those things that keep me going at work is to find time drawing things that I like... and I am blessed with a job that allows me to do that.

Some of the paintings I did in 2006 to 2007

These are painted with acrylic on canvas. I like how you can use acrylic paint to create texture. The colours from acrylic can be very vibrant. Acrylic paint is still my favourite medium.
